To provide a comprehensive school counseling program that facilitates the academic, social, and emotional development of all students in an environment integrated with Catholic values that nurture community, prayer, and service to others.
Counseling services at OLPH include:
Individual counseling designed to help students to discuss concerns, define goals, develop solutions, and resolve conflict.
Small group counseling where students who share common concerns can meet together to share ideas and support. Possible group topics are Grief, Divorce or Family Change, Social Skills, Friendship, Problem-Solving, Self-Esteem, Anger, and Study Skills. I do not place students in groups without parent permission.
Developmental guidance lessons designed to help students succeed and get along in the classroom. Guidance lessons are intended for all students and do not require students to reveal any personal information.
Students may be referred to the School Counselor by an administrator, teacher, parent, peer, or themselves. Referrals may be made by email, written request, or verbal request.
Reasons for referral include: Academic Difficulties, ADHD/Impulsivity, Anger Management/Aggression, Anxiety, Attendance/Tardiness, Behavior Modification, Bullying/Cyberbullying, Conflict/Peer Relations, Difficulty with Adjustment or Transition (from home to school, from one activity to another), Family Changes, Grief/Loss of a Loved One or Pet, Harm to Self/Others, Impulsivity, Organizational Skills, Self-Esteem, Social Skills, etc.
