Learning Studios At OLPH, our learners are grouped into multi-aged studios, and our teachers are their guides and coaches. Teachers deliver lessons using a combination of whole group, small group, and one-on-one instruction. Teachers set growth goals, analyze classroom data, and plan instruction according to the personalized needs of each learner.
Reading and Writing We believe all students are readers and writers. We know that students get better at reading by reading, and students get better at writing by writing. Our reading and writing block follows a modified workshop model. We use a combination of high-quality teacher-led instruction and high-quality online instruction to meet the needs of each learner.
Math We believe all students are mathematicians. Our math blocks focus on individualized learning paths to help students master mathematical skills. Teachers use classroom data to drive lesson plans and instruct and coach students at their current level. Our teachers focus on small teacher-led instruction paired with personalized online pathways to meet the needs of each student.
Science and Social Studies We believe in a hands-on, inquiry-based approach to Science and Social Studies. Project-based learning allows our students to deepen their understanding through the exploration of real-world scenarios and challenges. Science and Social Studies learning objectives are also woven throughout the curriculum as we discover common themes, issues or problems in reading, writing, and math.
